Dental Product Shopper (DPS) is the dental industry's source for product reviews and information. Dental Products Shopper is an online website companion to the Dental Shopper magazine, which features product reviews, ratings, and latest information on what to buy and where to buy it.
DPS is a long-time client of Blink Reaction, a leading enterprise Drupal development firm. Blink built their existing site and recently completed a multi-site with new design and functionality. Dental Product Shopper is part of Dental 360, which also offers Hygiene Product Shopper (HPS), and Dental Learning, an online learning center. Multi-site modules were employed to allow the sites to be managed by one Drupal installation.
Dental 360 and its associated sites receive thousands of page views daily and capture leads for manufacturers, providing them with extensive analysis and reports.
Rotating banner ads and product placement ads provide significant revenues for Dental 360.
On DPS and HPS, site visitors evaluate and review products, providing information about new products that practitioners might want to bring into their practices. Each product is reviewed for at least 4 weeks by 8-12 evaluators, who then complete an evaluation form designed by the editorial staff in conjunction with the manufacturer and the editorial advisory board. Evaluators are full-time dental practitioners. Evaluated products are scored on a 1-5 scale, given pros and cons, overall satisfaction score and individual criteria average are combined for a final score. Best Products rate 4.3 or higher; Recommended Products rate 3.6 to 4.2; Tested Products rate 3.5 or lower.

Clicking on a product in the Top 10 Most Viewed List takes visitors to a product page complete with a detailed product description, product video, and a request for more information, which activates a contact form that when complete, generates an email to the actual provider for that product along with emails to other vendors within that category.
Blink created a custom Media Player that uploads flash files, banner ads, and videos to showcase a play list of products, videos, and promotions. Clicking on a Product or Promotion takes visitors to the manufacturer’s site. Clicking on the Video tab plays a short video about a particular product or service and also links visitors to the vendor. When someone clicks on any of these items, the website captures the number of impressions and click-throughs for lead-tracking analysis and reports, along with the contact information, and emails this to the manufacturers.
Using the Drupal Twitter module, tweets are pulled from the @DentalProducts, @HygieneProducts, and @DLearning accounts and displayed on each Home Landing Page.
Multiple product categories, ranging from Cements to X-Ray Machines, exist for each site and are showcased in the Category Spotlight, which is updated frequently to list different categories as sponsored by the manufacturers. Clicking on a category takes visitors to a landing page with a Featured Product, Top 10 List of Most Viewed Products in that Category, Community Forum for posting articles or promoting discussions, and Articles/Press Releases.

Each site contains a Forum for the latest dentistry news, continuing education opportunities, questions, and discussions. The Drupal Forum module allows an administrator to set forums and control what users can view, edit, delete, and post to each forum. Forums are very useful because they allow community members to discuss topics with one another, and the discussions are archived for future reference.
Authenticated and authorized users can post blogs to each site. Blog entries can be made public or private to the site members, who can comment on any blog post. Users can sort on authors on in the Blog Archive.
The Dental Learning site provides online training courses and lists events, articles, videos, webinars, podcasts, and an index of providers. Courses are sorted by categories or provider. Each course page gives the price, course type, provider, category, and target audience. Courses can be rated to give feedback to potential students. Numerous webinars, podcasts, and videos are available so students can learn on their own time at their own pace.
Dental 360 is the conglomerate domain that aggregates items from all 3 sites and displays them on one page. These include Category Spotlights, What’s New, Twitter feeds, Most Viewed Products, etc. Promotions will be added in the future to the site in the form of coupons or sales.
Blink Reaction implemented search engine optimization (SEO) techniques and analyses to the sites for tracking clicks and impressions. Manufacturers and providers can gather data over a period of time and it will be displayed on a dashboard.
